Now is the time to make your exam study plans and gather the notes. It’s not too early. Really. Plan to study during the day.
GET READY FOR EACH EXAM
- Think about each exam as a type of project you can manage.
- Divide the course material into sections. Aim to study 1+ unit each day.
- Gather the old tests, study guides, ppts, and notes.
- Plan to attend help sessions.
- Meet with your teacher about any concept you need to understand.
MAKE AN EXAM STUDY PLAN – Use your calendar. Write in pencil.
- Take a look at your calendar and identify the days that you will devote to studying each subject
- Plan to study the material over the course of several days+.
- Mark the day before the exam as your final review of any concepts that need a bit more attention
- Write down your study plan for each subject
- Exam week is final review week
TEST YOURSELF USING ACTIVE STUDY
- Make each study session active not passive.
- Write, talk out loud, make connections by comparing and contrasting terms and processes
- Form questions for the material you haven’t quite mastered and find the answers
- Once you’ve reviewed a section, recall information without looking at the notes.
- Use your white board – TEACH yourself.
You can do this! Enjoy the process! For those who juggle/struggle with focus, remember to capitalize on your mental energy when you’re in the zone each day.
