You can do this! Enjoy the process!
GET READY FOR EACH EXAM – Do this about 3 weeks ahead.
- Divide the course material by units or sections
- Gather the old tests, study guides, ppts, vocabulary, and notes
- Identify the number of units you will need to review for each subject
- This number will give you the number of days you will need to review
MAKE AN EXAM STUDY PLAN – Use your calendar. Write in pencil.
- Post the exam dates
- Take a look at your calendar and identify the days that you will need to study
- Plan to study the material for each subject over the course of several days
- Plan to study during the day
- Mark the day before the exam as your final review of any concepts that need another look
- Write down your study plan for each subject. What do you need to study for each unit?
- Exam week is final review week
TEST YOURSELF USING ACTIVE STUDY – Give yourself lots of opportunities
- Make each study session active not passive
- Use your white board – TEACH yourself and TEST yourself.
- Write, talk out loud, make connections by comparing and contrasting terms and processes
- Once you’ve reviewed a section, recall information without looking at the notes.
- Form questions from the material you haven’t quite mastered and find the answers
HELP SESSIONS + STUDY GROUPS
- Definitely attend help sessions
- Meet with your teacher about any concept you need to understand better
- Once you’ve studied on your own, then, if you’d like, study with a friend or a small group who are interested in doing well on the test, too
