Our new normal isn’t quite normal. Right? Most familiar routines won’t work. One tricky part for everyone is figuring out how we need and want to use our time.
Middle and High School Students – Like a college freshman, you must assume full responsibility for your daily schedule and learning. This transition is abrupt and exhausting. I know you can do this! It will be bumpy. Check in with your parents and let them see what you’re planning. Consider their advice. Here are my suggestions:
- Follow your school’s new remote learning schedule.
- Make time for your independent work for each course.
- Set key reminders on your phone so that you stay on track.
- Take short breaks between subjects: 5-10 minutes.
- Go OUTSIDE everyday. Important! Take a walk, run, cycle! Move!
- Consider your independent interests: running, painting, photography, gardening, music, writing, gaming. You know what you really want to explore. Make time for it.
- Figure out how to connect with your family and friends every day.
